In a recent case verdict, a jury found that Attorney Stan Wruble’s
client was telling the truth when he claimed that three men robbed him
in November of 2014. The client, a former Notre Dame student, was charged
with false informing two months after pressing charges for the alleged
abduction and robbery, while the three men involved in the claim were
not charged.
Attorney Wruble’s client claimed that three men picked him up near
Morris Park Country Club and took him to an ATM after asking how much
money he had on him. Attorney Wruble, confused as to why prosecutors would
victimize his client, said his client had no motive to lie or fabricate
the story.
“When he went to report this to police and was treated like a liar
and a criminal, that sort of turned his world upside down,” Attorney
Wruble said.
The three men the client claimed had robbed him told authorities they offered
the client a ride, and were asked to stop at a gas station use the ATM
and pay them in gas money – a claim to which Attorney Wruble found
no truth in.
“He lost $80, yeah it sucks to lose $80, but you don’t regret
paying $80, then make up a story about being robbed. It doesn’t
make sense,” Wruble said.
After four hours of deliberations and reviewing surveillance and interrogation
videos, the jury found Attorney Wruble’s client not guilty of false
informing.
